That’s the advice that our 2020 BCAPS Champ Manish Nemade shared with us in our latest blog post. Manish has been a big part of our tech team as an engineer and has consistently proven his capabilities at projects and has also showcased his leadership skills by successfully leading a team so early on in his career.

In the blog post, Manish discusses his personal thoughts and professional journey at Neebal Technologies.

How did you get your start your journey in engineering?

At the time of childhood, I used to play a lot of computer games; sometimes, I wondered how exactly all these things (computers/games) work? And this curiosity made me choose the path for computer engineering.

What would you say has been your greatest accomplishment?

In my opinion, every milestone achieved is a great accomplishment until reaching the next one, and that might not be necessary to be a milestone that you set that might be an achievement that wasn’t intended to be achieved. For me, it was completing the final year project on ourselves without any prior knowledge of the technology which we were working on. Also there were no mentors available who will help us into that, at that time I learned that you don’t necessarily have to be expert at a specific thing. Still, you have to be dynamic to adapt to new ideas, which I feel is necessary. After that list continues to getting an early confirmation and getting nominated for BCAPS star/champ consistently and getting one for the efforts I made.

What motivates you?

New challenges which force you to learn new things, and make you step outside the box.

What are the activities/value systems that made you achieve this significant milestone?

Every time there was a new challenge which made me present my capabilities and learn new things. And when we complete those challenges by giving 100% accountability, that leads to new challenges and new learnings. For example, I was chosen as TO replacement when there was no TO for the team as they believed in me because of my past work, which went very well. The team has contributed equally to bring the best out of me and everyone being open to help out when there’s blocker even if they are in another group made the task easy.

What has your experience at Neebal been like so far?

There was no point at which I felt I wasn’t growing as a person or as a professional. I am learning a lot here. The timely appreciation for the contributions and the kind of mentors I have, help me to keep going. The overall experience is excellent so far.

What is the biggest challenge facing engineers today?

The biggest challenge facing engineers today is finding the right job that you deserve or could be the right path to grow and not only a job. They don’t know what’s right for them or what they should be capable of getting that right job.

What advice would you give someone that is just starting?

Someone who is just starting should focus on enhancing their capabilities first, which will help them achieve their milestones and develop a factor of curiosity for everything, which will help them improve their skills more further. Always focus more on practical knowledge, which will get you an experience out of it. Be open to asking for help.

What are the most important values that you look for in an organization?

The organization should focus on the employee’s satisfaction and timely appreciation for their contribution. The organization should be open to any questions/suggestions. The organization should make you learn new things and boost your skill set.

What’s your proudest professional accomplishment?

The proudest accomplishment as a professional is getting a chance to successfully lead a team on your capabilities this early in career.
