BCAPS Star, Ganesh Katad

Meet Ganesh Katad, our very own technical farmer here at Neebal. Ganesh has many feathers in his cap, he is not only a BCAPS Star at Neebal, but also topped his college in his BCA and MCA degrees, just like he continues to be a topper today!

He uses technology for the betterment of his family (agriculture background) and society at large.

At Neebal, we are deeply honored to work with 30+ such entrepreneurial individuals from Nashik (credits to RH Sapat CoE, Nashik) who have a farming background. Having worked on cutting edge Agri Tech solutions like Remote Sensing, Subsidy Management, and Farming Equipment Management, our Technical Farmers have developed a deep understanding of AgriTech solutions that they wish to use to help the society at large.

Congratulations to Ganesh for winning this cultural award. Keep it up!

We spoke with him  to see what motivates him to go that extra mile. Here is the interview.

How did you start your journey at Neebal?

Neebal held interviews in our college in September 2018 and I got selected as a JAVA developer. I joined Neebal in December 2018 and am currently working on RPA (Robotic Process Automation) projects.

Who inspires you? Who are your role models or mentors?

My dad is my biggest inspiration. My dad is a farmer by occupation and he is the hardest working person I know and he does everything with a smile on his face. Despite being busy, he makes time for his family and takes care of us. He treats me like a friend and shares his experiences and mistakes so that I won’t repeat them.

What are the attributes that helped you achieve this great milestone?

Being Curious – Curiosity in understanding and grasping Jenkins completely. Jenkins is an open-source Continuous Integration(CI) tool which provides continuous integration services for software development.
Customer Focus – Constantly striving towards achieving things to be done as per client’s requirements
Accountability – Implementation of Jenkins and facing technological problems and coordination with other colleagues to get the best solution to the problems
Perseverance –Following a strict timeline to deliver a quality product which meets customer requirements
Stewardship – Understanding concerns and guiding team members

What is your stress buster?

I have a great network of colleagues, friends, and family that ease my stress and help me see things from different perspectives. I often have a good laugh with my colleagues and friends and it is an excellent stress reliever.

What is the biggest challenge faced by engineers today?

Lack of formal training in the college for the industry level skills and outdated syllabus which has no relevance in the current day-to-day technologies.

What advice would you give someone that is just starting out?

Find your interests –Take into consideration your desires and decide whether they are compatible with your ideal career.
Be the Doctor – Ask any questions you may have and get solutions for your doubts
Flexibility – One should be flexible and willing to adapt to change as the industry is continuously evolving.

What’s the best book you’ve read this year?

I recently read a book called “Power Thinking” by Dr. Ujjwal Patni and I loved it. I learnt things about the power of positive thinking, how to widen one’s social circle, and the secrets behind successful people.

What are the most important values that you look for in an organization?

I believe that opportunity and innovation are very important for any organization. Opportunity depicts different aspects and may vary from person to person. It might be an opportunity to work on different projects or be an opportunity to lead projects and guide the team. I believe that innovation leads to quality. Innovation encourages doing new things rather than just thinking.

What has your experience at Neebal been like so far?

Working at Neebal has been great so far. We have a positive environment and an encouraging culture. This has motivated and assisted me to work on different domains and learn new technologies.
